HOLLYWOOD MOVIES WITH SHARKS. |

The definitive Hollywood shark movie. The only thing that has always bothered me about the cover to Jaws is the fact that the shark looks way more like a Mako shark than a Great White. Perhaps this was done on purpose since Peter Benchley's novel Jaws was based loosely on the New Jersey shark attacks of 1916 and they never found out exactly what kind of shark that was. Some say it was a Bull shark. Others say an 8ft (2.5m) Great White caught off the Jersey shore soon after the attacks. The cover looks like a Mako. Large black saucer eyes and what look to be narrower, more needle like teeth. Just my opinion. If you like sharks, and you don't own this...buy it. Price: $14.49 + S&H BUY IT HERE! |

Samual L Jackson plays a businessman who sinks $200 million into a special project to help fight brain cancer. As part of this project, medical biologist Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows) rather naughtily figures out a way to genetically embiggen shark brains, so that cancer-battling enzymes can be harvested. However, the shark subjects become super smart and decide they don't much like being cooped up in pens and being stabbed with hypodermics, so they figure a way to break out and make for the open sea... Deep Blue Sea is one of those movies that grabs you and entertains you from beginning to end. I loved it. The acting is decent and the film is fresh and polished. Some of the scenes are obviously over the top but it's fun. One reason I liked this movie is because LL Cool J is in it. He is great as the scared silly lab's cook that ends up pretty much stealing the movie in my opinion. He's great. If you don't own Deep Blue Sea it is worth getting. The sharks aren't Great Whites but they don't have to be. They are scary looking Makos and they are HUGE. Price: $12.99 + S&H BUY IT HERE! |

Leonardo DiCaprio "THE BEACH" (DVD) Not quite ready to surrender himself to responsibility or mainstream society, a young American travels to Asia and discovers he is not alone in his feelings. People either love this movie or think it's crap. I loved it. And I recommend it for a number of reasons. First, it is beautifully shot and well acted. Secondly, I lived in the Phillippines for a few years and it really reminded me of some of the places I had been there. Plus there are a couple of scenes in the movie involving sharks. And there is also one scene where there might be sharks while they are swimming in the open ocean, which I think is just as scary as actually encountering them. I highly recommend this movie for anyone that enjoys gorgeous outdoor scenery, and intense drama. This is not a family movie however. Price: $12.99 + S&H BUY IY HERE! |

The sea underworld is shaken up when the son of the shark mob boss is found dead and a young fish named Oscar is found at the scene. Being a bottom feeder, Oscar takes advantage of the situation and makes himself look like he killed the finned mobster. Oscar soon comes to realize that his claim may have serious consequences. This movie (albiet a cartoon) is simply fantastic. A lot of shark myths are featured in this film and a great deal of humor is too. It's one of those movies that is already a classic it's so good. If you haven't seen this and you like sharks (and the ocean in general) get this movie now! I loved it. And apparently I'm not alone. Everyone doing voice overs in this movie is top shelf. Best movie. A true family film. Your kids will love it. And so will you. Price: $14.99 + S&H BUY IT HERE! |

Marlin (a clown fish) is a widower who only has his son Nemo left of his family after a predator attack. Years later, on Nemo's first day of school, he's captured by a scuba diver and taken to live in a dentist office's fish tank. Marlin and his new absent-minded friend Dory set off across the ocean to find Nemo, while Nemo and his tankmates scheme on how to get out of the tank before he becomes the dentist's niece's new pet. Another great family movie. This one features sharks as well. Not as much as Shark Tale but the movie is just as good. Great animated ocean film. Worth buying. Price: $20.49 + S&H BUY IT HERE! |

Loosely based on the disappearnace of American couple Thomas & Eileen Lonergan during a diving trip to the Great Barrier reef in Australia. The film Open Water is 81 minutes of psychologically disturbing sequences where you can only hope for the couple's rescue. This never happens. In fact, after the movie was over I looked over at my girl and said..."well that sucked!" Ok, forgive me for doing this but just like poor Thomas & Eileen Lonergan, the couple in Open Water didn't make it. And quite frankly it was damn depressing. I guess I spoiled it for you because it's not a film I would ever (and I mean ever) want to view again. Not worth buying but I did feel I had to mention it because unlike the myriad of other crappy B shark movies I'm not showing on this website that are readily available for sale, this was based on a true story. Rent it, don't buy it if you must see it. There is nothing redeeming about this movie except the fact that it will seriously mess with your mind while you are watching it. Yes, I know that was the point...but cmon....at least let it have a happy ending. No such luck. RENT IT HERE BUY IT HERE (If you must) |
