This is a segment from D. A. Pennebaker's film, Dont Look Back (a documentary on Bob Dylan's tour of England in 1965). In the film, Dylan holds up cue cards for the audience with words from the song on them. While staring at the camera, he flips the cards as the song plays. Interestingly, there are intentional errors throughout the video. For instance, the song's lyrics say "eleven dollar bills," but the poster says "20 dollars". The video takes place in an alley behind The Savoy Hotel in London where poet Allen Ginsberg makes a cameo appearance.

Dylan himself said he is a poet first, musician second. He has also said he lives like a poet and would die like a poet.

Many thanks. I think I get it.1: Dylan's music and lyrics don't exist for their own sake, but are very much a product of his times and the issues of the period2: He is not only a musician, but a poet, and his music should be appreciated in this lightCorrect, no?And I very much agree with you, justmusic247. What you find today on MTV is not very creative. This video may have been unusual, but I would prefer it any day to some of thoughtless drivel being produced currently.

Really folks - how can you dog Jagger with a straight face? Besides, this is all about Dylan - nearly 50 years of making it all possible for every clown, pretender, and truly talented soul who has something to say. Mercy, I thank the Universe for this man....Dylan made EXPRESSION possible for us all in this electronic age. He is no accident.
