I've seen this happen on various footage. I always did think that the bars at head-height were somewhat too far apart, had this been a young shark or a smaller species...I doubt they'd be laughing so much as mourning the loss of body parts!

Actually I'm pretty sure the gills are more sensitive and will hurt it more. That's how you get rid of a shark, you hurt it.

best way to get a shark away from you is to hit its nose then it knows not to bother you
