I was working for a Safety magazine a few years ago (before Deadliest Catch) and was interviewing a crab boat captain about safety on his ship. He was going on about safety precautions and training and trust, etc., and sounded like he knew what he was talking about, so then I asked "if you're so good about safety, how come your industry has more deaths and injuries than any others?" And he looked at me and said "well, the Bering Sea just doesn't like people very much." Good answer.

i know this is one of the most dangerous jobs u can have, but how do they die, get lost, hurt, ect? do they fall off, fight with the crabs or what?

actually mr smart guy...it has toped the list for over 10 years..every week atleast 5 crab fishermen are either lost or dead.

no they do not, on average a lot die, yes but its not one a week or anywhere near that
