"are you guys arguing?"My aims are clear. I am categorically opposed to the devaluing of humanity to any degree. This video is a magnet for that ideology. I respectfully, thought-provokingly hope to make those persons reconsider it. I don't see how humanity can overcome it's problems while so many work so hard to prove it's worth cannot be argued for.I also champion the tolerance across religious and Atheistic borders, and bilaterally oppose abuse of the other. That's my position.

VV Cephei isn't the biggest, the biggest is HD269810. Cephei is a "mere" 40 solar masses (so max 40 times the sun) HD HD269810 is 150 solar masses so it's 2 to 3 times bigger than Cephei, and has an approx. 6.433,375 KM radius. consider that earth has a mere 6371 KM radius.Yes we're insignificant, imagine how big the Universe is after knowing this.

are you guys TheJediCharles and KunaiKillerKevin arguing?
TheJediCharles (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
Okay, now we're getting somewhere."Again pickles are meaningful to YOU, not me and not anybody body else. "Okay, hold that point. You began this with the statement "humans are totally insignificant compared to whats out there". Does this mean you simply forgot to add "to MYSELF"?
KunaiKillerKevin (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
"Pickles are more meaningful than the sum of the Earth?"Again pickles are meaningful to YOU, not me and not anybody body else. And i`m not frustrated and i never called you an annoying jerk, i actually enjoy sending this messages back and fourth between us.You also say that im used to making an empty claim and never realizing it before. don't tell me what i do and what i don't do, you also make comment in your messages to me that have no background at all.
TheJediCharles (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
You're not being targeted for disagreement. I'm only pointing out how your claims may SOUND great to you but are devoid of meaning. So stars can crush us. So can a moon-sized pickle. Pickles are more meaningful than the sum of the Earth? So there might be life out there. How does that affect our significance? HOW? Draw the dots for me.Your frustration in this question is not because I'm an annoying jerk. It's because you just used to making a empty claim and never realizing it before.

"I don't need anyone to finish making the points i started."You sure do, because so far, despite my insistence, you aren't."i`m not going to try to get you to understand either."Then I have no choice but to chalk you up to admitting you can't expound on your shallow contributions."It doesn't make sense when you answer "so?" to my point that undiscovered life may not find us significant."Your points don't lead anywhere at all.
KunaiKillerKevin (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
I don't need anyone to finish making the points i started. and no i`m not discrediting your reactions. 1. You down seem to get what i mean when i say in my point that these stars can crush us, i`m not going to try to get you to understand either. 2. It doesn't make sense when you answer "so?" to my point that undiscovered life may not find us significant.
TheJediCharles (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
"BTW size bares no relevance to significance."*my best Dale Gribble impression*Shishahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!My phraseology has been "proportions do not equal significance", but it's the same meaning.Hope to see you in here often. :)
TheJediCharles (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
"give me three examples and I'll agree with you."Well, obviously he'll just consult what John Lennon's "Imagine" said was wrong with us. ;)It's a common problem. Half those who claim we're insignificant do so based upon how imaginary galactic possibilities that always sees "us beneath them" and the other half do because it's not hard to point out what makes us imperfect. They're not used to being expected to expound on it because they usually hear, "yea, humans like totally suck, dude." |
