Yeshua Shai from what I understand they could not get Judy Collins to write off on the send in the clowns version for the DVD. I agree it's a vital part of the song and show

Brilliant stuff! The reason I went looking for this is the same reason you mention above, that the snippet of Stephen Sondheim's "Send in the Clowns" is cut from the DVD release. Both original album and film versions of this included the "Send in the Clowns" lyrics but did not credit them correctly. Stephen Sondheim's record company challenged U2 and in the end refused them permission to use the lyrics. The band also had to pay a $50k fine and all subsequent releases had the segment edited out.

yo u2 peoples, is this the song that they totally fucked up on when it came out on dvd? i heard they cut out when bono left the stage to be up on the side by the crowd with the white flag, and the helicopter,.......on the Red Rocks DVD,? man, i wonder if the band knows it, how could they do it? 'the electric co.' is the best highlight of the show, and even on the cover! lol, bono with the flag, how could they cut it out? royalties? oh please, they got nuff dough to pay for it.....U2s suckin

I get something from every cut on this disc..there's something so fresh about everything on this album...I used to rock out to it on the way home from playing a gig!
