dude i agree with you on everything youjust said, he's an amazing guitarist..no-one can question that..but with the exeption of for the love of god, he CANNOT write a melody..and it's all just crazy shredding, that's why i love satch the best, his pieces are almost song like and lyrical..really memorable you know?

yeh i love paul gilbert. but i just think that steve vai has terrible songs, and he KNOWS he is good at guitar and is very snotty 'bout it. and the fan blowing his hair on stage is just gay..lolwell thats just my opinion obviously theres gonna be alot of people disagreeing =)

you are mistaken... 'shreding' is when you play a scale *blues, dorian, or minor* are usually what you hear people shreding you can shred AND play with emoution

Hendrix was revolutionary but Satriani's stuff makes much better listening and is alot more varied and just generally kicks ass. whereas hendrix can be a bit hard on the ears (although maybe this is just due to the crummy production).
